NOTICE: We would like to express thanks for your interest in the project. It's heartening that we've directed more than 5,000 visits to the site in our short-lived period of activity, that culminated in over 9,000 video views and over 600 connections on Twitter and Facebook - all in the name of breaking stigma. As you can see, this website has now fallen to disuse. In part due to a lack of time from the original team that had put this site together, but also to a lack of interest from the organizations we have approached for support. If you're an individual/group passionate about advocating increased STD education in Singapore, and may be interested in picking up from where this initiative has left off, please drop an e-mail to contact@silencesg.org. We will consider handing over the entire project - including existing social network accounts, unpublished interview excerpts, existing graphic templates, a contact base of previously interested talent contributors we had not pursued and of course the domain (which has been paid for until mid-2013) - to the right person(s) who might be able to take this further than we have. Interested successors to the project might want to download our project brief to have a more detailed read on the project, before expressing your interest. Until then, we hope you all stay safe!

Frequently asked questions for the Wall of Silence.

What is the Wall of Silence?
The Wall of Silence is a silent wall of images on the web composed of a montage of photos from supporters of the campaign who feel they have learned enough from silencesg.org to show their support. This is for others who have yet to do so, to encourage them to learn as they have.
The message being conveyed might be silent, but the people involved are not, having contributed to the campaign with their support in the hopes of breaking such real-life walls of silence that young people who start risque and open conversations and questions about sexual health are met with.

Are there any other purposes for this Wall of Silence?
Asides from encouraging a spread of information to others, the Wall of Silence aims to send a strong message of hope to those afflicted, encouraging them with images of people who are already aware and able to differentiate between facts and fictions of STDs, thereby being less prone to needlessly be scared or to discriminate against a person who is living with an STD.

When will the Wall of Silence be completed?
We are hoping to complete and launch the Wall of Silence by December 2011, in time for World AIDS day to send an especially strong message to those living with HIV/AIDS, that they are not forgotten.

I understand you guys are going to be forming a large image using small images. If so, do I need specific colours for backgrounds to be able to find a place in the photo?
No, you do not. We will process all pictures to fit into the whole image cohesively. We would however like to request that your image colours be subdued or neutral, and not too bright in colour or have too complex a background - it does help with our workload during post-processing! Photo upload guidelines are available at our photo submission page.

Can I make a request as to where I want to be? I want my photo placed on the eye!
Unfortunately, with the massive amount of work our small team is undertaking, we are unable to accomodate all requests, but will try where we can. You can make a specific request when uploading your photo (in the note section) as to where you'd like to be placed. Of course, this is on a first-come-first serve basis so if someone else has requested to say, be placed on the iris, then we'll take the first few requests we need, and place others around their part of choice.

Is this montage going to be on the web?
Yes. It will be uploaded onto our website in it's own dedicated segment, the 'Wall of Silence'.

Is it going to stay exclusively on your website?
We'd hope not! Further down the road (when we have more time), we are looking at all possibilities, including this montage in promotional collaterals in the form of posters, flyers, brochures during events, advertisements, or whatnot. Maybe even a dedicated exhibition or showcase to show the amount of support we've garnered from people who are more aware than before of STDs. Who knows?

Tell me about my rights to my picture after submission.
After submission, you will authorise us, silencesg.org the rights to use your image on our web montage as well as for further future use without further crediting you outside of our 'Wall of Silence' credit list (to be released upon release of the wall), where we list and thank all contributors who outrightly and explicityly request for a reference for the photo they provide. That means any future fair use of your image is within our rights and silencesg.org is not liable to compensate or reimburse you for commercial use of your image. Please read our full terms of use page for full legal terms and conditions.

Got more burning questions? Fill up the form below and we'll get back to you the soonest we can. Please fill subject as 'Wall of Silence Question'.
